Russia launches world’s most powerful Arktika icebreaker
MOSCOW, Oct 21 (PRIME) -- The world’s most powerful multipurpose Arktika icebreaker of the 22220 project has been officially launched in Murmansk, according to information obtained by PRIME on Wednesday.
The vessel is 173.3 meters long, 34 meters wide and has a deadweight of 33,500 tonnes.
The 22220 icebreakers are intended for piloting hydrocarbon carriers through up to 3-meter ice from the Arctic-based locations including deposits of the Yamal and Gydan peninsulas and the Kara Sea shelf to South Pacific.
